Client Tips and Downloads
This page has been created to serve as a resource for
our tax clients and answer some frequently asked questions.
Following our suggestions below will help us to find tax
deductions and make the engagement more efficient.

Individual Income Tax
- We require all of our clients for whom we prepare individual income tax returns to fill out
a questionnaire. The questionnaire is very helpful in bringing up deductions you might not have
thought of and makes us aware of events and circumstances that change your tax situation from
year to year. To help make filling out this questionnaire as easy as possible for our clients, we
have provided three ways to do this:
- If we prepared your return last year, fill out the questionnaire included in
the personal tax organizer we sent to you in the mail.
- Download the questionnaire in PDF format and fax it to us at (702) 382-7910.
- Fill out the questionnaire on-line.
- If we prepared your tax return last year, you should have received a personal tax organizer
in the mail. If you have misplaced it, please let us know and we will send another. We
encourage you to fill it out completely. At a minimum, you can use it as a guide as you gather
your tax documents to make sure you send us all of the same information that you sent us last
year.
If there is an item on the organizer that does not apply to the current tax year (for
example, you received dividends from XYZ Corp in 2006 but received none in 2007), please cross
the item out or put zero in the amount column. This may save us from having to come back and
asking the question after you have provided us with your tax documents.

bottom of this page to download blank organizer forms.
- Don't forget to provide us with the following:
- Closing Statements. If you purchased, sold, or refinanced properties
during the year, please provide us with the closing statement (sometimes, these
say "settlement statement" at the top). If you are unable to find your closing
statement, the title company may be able to give you a copy. Also, make sure
the closing statement says "final" at the top, not "estimated."
- Loan Period. If you refinanced,
please provide the life of the new loan.
- DMV fees. If you registered your vehicles in Nevada,
you can search for the amount paid on the
DMV website with your name and license plate number
- Non-Cash Charitable Contributions. Sometimes we are provided
with receipts, but no value amounts for non-cash charitable contributions.
On the receipts, please write the thrift shop value of the items you donated.
Business Income Tax
- The information we typically request to prepare income tax returns for businesses includes:
- Prior year tax returns (preferably for the past three years)
- Operating Agreement
- Articles of Organization
- Names, social security numbers, addresses, and percentage ownership of all owners
- QuickBooks/Peachtree backup or balance sheet, income statement, and general ledger
- Bank statements and reconciliations for all cash accounts for the last month
of the fiscal year
- Loan and credit card statements for all loans and credit cards for the last month
of the fiscal year
- Payroll tax forms including W-3 and W-2 forms, 941 forms, federal and state unemployment
tax forms, and other state payroll tax forms
- Dates purchased and descriptions for fixed assets purchased during the year
